Wild mango rasam is one of the easy and traditional recipes. In my place wild mango recipes are most common in the summer. Whenever I get these ripe wild mangoes, this rasam is a must. In my place, wild mangoes are called kaatu mavinahannu. These mangoes are small in size and sometimes it is sweet and sometimes sour. We can make so many recipes from wild mangoes. This rasam is one among them.
Every summer mangoes are a must. Every time this rasam is hot to our taste buds. When we eat wild mangoes remembering childhood or other funny incidents. Wild mangoes love is never ending. Few days ago, I visited one of my friend’s homes and she gave me wild mangoes, which are so sweet like her. Next day I prepared this rasam. When I prepare this rasam everyone eats more because of the taste.
For making rasam, fully ripen wild mangoes because it is sweet in taste. First we need to wash the ripe mangoes, peel the skin and squeeze the peels with water two or three times or the skin leaves all the pulp and collects the water. Then add mangoes to the squeezed water. Cook for some minutes until all mangoes are cooked. While cooking the mangoes add salt, red chilli powder or green chili, turmeric powder, jaggery if required. Lastly add some simple tadka for the rasam.
This rasam is served with hot rice along with some ghee. Hot rice, ghee and this rasam has a heavenly taste. And wants more rice and more time to eat because we have to eat all the pulp from mango seeds.

- Take all wild mango, wash them well.
- Take bowls, put peels in one bowl and mangoes in another bowl.
- Add some water to the peels and squeeze them 2-3 times or until all pulp come out.
- Add squeezed water to mangoes and if required add some water too.
- Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt and jaggery and cook for 10 minutes.
- Take a tadka, add oil, garlic, mustard seeds, jeera and curry leaves.
Jaggery is adjusted as per your taste. If wild mangoes are too sweet, then adjust the ingredients.
