Pomegranate peels are very healthy. When you talk about pomegranate peel, many people think it’s a waste, peel is unhealthy so the unwanted thinking is going on. Many people throw the pomegranate peel. Actually, peel is very healthy and dishes from out of this are tasty and easy to prepare. 

I make several dishes from pomegranate peels, this is one of them. I usually dry the peels, store and make whenever the peel recipes you want. I love the pomegranate peel recipes, because it is simple to prepare and healthy too. In my childhood my grandma dried the peel and prepared  tasty tambuli. I prepared and developed some new recipes from peel. My family members liked this very much. 

While preparing the pomegranate peel raita recipe, we need to roast the peel very well. Because peel is a little bitter and astringent in taste. After roasting peel it should be grind well with spicy chilies, fresh coconut and some roasted cumin. These were beautifully combined with curd and  the taste was delicious.

You can garnish pomegranate seeds with raita or you can give simple tempering to the raita. It has a delicious taste with hot rice or it is served like hummus. It is a good combination of bread for preparing the sandwich.

The pomegranate peel is super nutritious and it is one of the natural remedies for many diseases. It gives instant results for digestion issues, anemia and diarrhea. It has high antioxidants.

  • Take out the peel of the pomegranate and wash well.
  • Take a tadka pan, add oil, cumin, pomegranate peel and roast it for about 10 to 15 minutes on medium flame.
  • In a mixer jar add roasted peel, green chilli, coconut, and grind it to a paste.
  • Take a bowl, add curd and ground paste.
  • Mix well and pomegranate raita is ready. Enjoy with rice or bread like hummus.
