Bringing New Life, The Miracle of Vaginal Birth-2

Greetings! My name is Sthuthi, and today I would like to share my second pregnancy vaginal birth story with you.

On the morning of the 23rd, at approximately 5 o’clock, I left my house and headed to the hospital. We reached Mangalore at 6:30 am, and after grabbing breakfast at a hotel, I got admitted to the hospital by 8 am.

Once the admission process was complete, I was taken to the labor room, where I was informed that I was dilated to almost 4cm. Despite having given birth once before, I was still anxious and excited, and worried about the pain and postpartum days.

The nurse checked my dilation and informed the doctor, who then instructed the nurses to start the procedure, including giving me an enema and inducing labor pains. Due to the position of the baby’s head, I was unable to experience proper contractions to induce labor pain. As a result, the nurses administered the enema following the doctor’s orders. Although an enema is a common procedure, it does leave one feeling drained. So, before entering the labor room, I drank some coconut water to replenish my energy levels.

Around 9 am, they began inducing labor pains. The doctor came to check on me, but soon had to attend to another patient who was in more pain than I was. After one hour of inducing labor pains, I was still not experiencing the proper amount of pain as the process of inducing takes time to set in. During this time, I calmed myself down by reciting shlokas and talking to the baby, including chanting the Vishnu sahastranama and Lalitha sahastranama.

Once the contractions began, they moved me to the labor theatre, and the doctor came to check my dilation and condition. The nurses were very kind and took excellent care of me. When the contractions began, I controlled the pain by focusing on my breathing. Breathing exercises are vital for a vaginal delivery, and I had been doing them daily during my pregnancy, even in my busy schedule, which proved to be very helpful in the labor theater.

The contractions continued, and when I felt the urge to push, I asked the nurses if I was ready to deliver the baby. The nurses checked and called the doctor to confirm my dilation. When the doctor arrived, I requested her to call my husband for support. She did so and checked my dilation. She informed me that my vagina was ready, and when the pain came, I should immediately push the baby.

My husband arrived in the labor theatre, and I waited for the pain to push the baby out. He held my hand and encouraged me. Real contractions began, and within three to four pushes, the baby was delivered without any issues.

I have always been confident in my body’s ability to deliver vaginally, and I had conversations with the baby, telling them that I wanted a vaginal birth because it would be beneficial for both of us. Talking to the baby during pregnancy is essential, and I believe that babies listen to everything we say when they are in the womb. Women are strong, so always believe in yourself and don’t let go of your confidence and energy.

Thank you for reading about my experience with vaginal birth. Please feel free to share your birth stories, whether through vaginal birth or C-section. Remember, what’s important is a healthy baby and new mother.
