Sweet potato masala is very simple and easy to make. All ingredients are easily available at home. It is a super easy snack and all types of people will definitely like it.  Tampering and seasoning bring a good aroma to this masala. Sweet potato is good to health also.


Sweet potatoes earned the name “superfood” because of the amount of nutrients they have.

Health Benefits of Sweet Potatoes:

  • Cancer. In sweet potatoes, carotenoids can lower your cancer risk. In another natural compound called anthocyanin, purple sweet potatoes are strong, which could reduce your risk of having colorectal cancer.

  • Chop the sweet potato, onion, green chilly and keep aside.
  • In a pan, add oil, red chilly, urad dal, mustard and curry leaves for tampering.
  • For the tampering add green chilly and onion fry until it colour changes into brown.
  • Then add the chopped sweet potato, turmeric, red chilly powder, jaggery (optional), Salt and required amount of water, mix well and cook well.
  • Once sweet potato cooked, add grated coconut and mix well.
  • Now , yummy sweet potato masala is ready to eat. You can serve with Hot Tea or coffee.
