Besan Laccha Paratha

When I heard about besan laccha paratha I was quite interested in how it tasted. All thoughts came to my mind. However I started the procedure and did the parathas and tasted and approved by all the family members. So I thought of sharing a beautiful paratha recipe with you all.

Besan lachha paratha is a unique recipe. Usually parotta is stuffed with vegetables, these paratha are stuffed but not vegetables. This paratha speciality is flour stuffed with masala. This parotta is layered and soft in texture.

When I tried it for the first time it went crazy because it became fully  dry and everything was a mess. Besan flour is generally dry in nature, so after kneading I left it for a few minutes so the dough is dry later I literally made rustling with my dough. After that I learnt from my mistake and made proper besan lacha paratha. 

Prepare the wheat dough as you did like normal chapathi dough with little salt. Add takes little time because besan is absorbing too much water. Once everything is added the dough is very soft. 

For the stuffing mix the ingredients: besan flour, red chili powder, turmeric powder, ajwain, cumin, kasuri methi, hing powder. While mixing the stuffing add hot oil and get a creamy texture. 

For the base add regular wheat flour dough. Spread the besan stuffing how much quantity is needed. While cooking use ghee for good flavor and extra taste.

Serve when the parotta is hot along with any curry or curd. Any combination is good with this parotta. You can prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner or snacks or appetizers. It was great option for lunch boxes too.

  • Take a mixing bowl, add wheat flour, salt and water. Knead the dough very soft and keep aside.
  • In a small bowl add besan flour, red chili powder, turmeric powder, hing, kasuri methi, cumin, ajwain, salt and mix well.
  • Add hot oil and mix well until all lumps go away and get a creamy texture.
  • Take a big ball the size of dough and roll it into a thin layer.
  • Add besan mixture and spread into a spreaded layer.
  • Roll and make a round shape.
  • Again add some flour and spread into a round shape.
  • Place a hot tawa, add spread parotta and cook both the sides.
  • While cooking add some ghee or oil.
  • Tasty and delicious besan laccha parotta is ready.
  • Serve with curry or curd.
