  • Take a seedless hog plum, wash well and chop into small pieces.
  • In a vessel add water, chopped hog plum, green chilli, salt, turmeric powder, dry ginger or crushed ginger and mix well.
  • Close the lid and cook for about 5-6 minutes.
  • Once the hog plum pieces are cooked , take out some pieces and keep aside.
  • Once pieces are cool down transfer to the mixer jar and paste it.
  • Add prepared puree to the cooked rasam.
  • Add asafoetida and the required amount of water.
  • Mix well and allow to boil.
  • In a tadka pan heat oil, add red chili, cumin, mustard seeds, and curry leaves.
  • Pour the prepared tempering to the rasam.
  • Combine everything.
  • The tasty and mouth licking rasam is ready.
  • Serve with hot steamed rice or drink it like a soup.
