Chana salad is an easy recipe and packed with a lot of nutrients. This salad is colorful and flavourful. The salad is very good for our health. I am always ready to prepare salads because it is healthy, colorful, tasty and stomach filler for long hours. So this salad helps to reduce weight loss.


Chickpea salad is great with a simple dressing of mixing lemon juice, olive oil and crushed pepper. Olive oil gives amazing taste to our taste buds and it have lot of health benefits. If you don’t have olive oil you can use sesame oil or other oil instead of coconut oil. Coconut oil does not give that much taste to the salads. My suggestion for salads is when you are tempering then coconut oil is fine otherwise i prefer olive oil.

The chickpea salad is very attractive in color because it is loaded with cucumber, onion, tomatoes, coriander leaves and capsicum. In addition you can add your desired vegetables like carrots, corn or others.

While cooking chickpeas, beforehand we need to soak very well. I always soak in large quantities and cook in a pressure cooker. Then I will store it in the refrigerator and use it whenever I prepare salads or any curry.  This helps to make salads easy on busy schedules or busy days.

Chickpea is very healthy, it includes fiber, protein, iron, zinc and vitamins. Chickpea salad is vegetarian and vegan food. It can be served for lunch, dinner, snacks or a picnic spot. It is a dairy free salad so everyone can have this salad.

  • Take a cooker, add soaked Chana, water and salt. Make 2-3 whistles.
  • Take a small bowl and add lemon juice, olive oil, black pepper powder and mix well.
  • Strain the Chana to a mixing bowl.
  • Add onion, tomato, cucumber, capsicum, coriander leaves, salt and dressing. Mix everything.
  • Enjoy the chana salad.
