Poha laddu is very easy and instant sweet to prepare. It is very healthy sweet to all. Poha laddu is a traditional and authentic recipe too. Poha is also called as Aval, Flatten rice, Avalakki, poha in various languages and regions. Everyone will definitely love this simple laddu. Lord Krishna loves poha so this is one of the must sweet in every krishna janmashtami.  We can do this poha laddu during any festival. It is one of the best for kids.


This laddu is combination of simple ingredients such as coconut, jaggery and poha. The poha laddu not required much time and ingredients. Every ingredients are easily available in our kitchen. Any kind of poha can be used to do this laddu, but here i used white flatten poha. Jaggery and coconut are a good combination to this laddu. I added Raisins and cashew nuts. You can add other nuts to this laddu. Adding of nuts is completely optional. Cardamom is just added to the sake of flavour.

While roasting the poha is in very low flame, otherwise it will be burnt. Because poha is flatten and easily roasted. If you feel too difficult to prepare small balls like a laddu you can add some more melted ghee. The poha laddu is very tasty and delicious. Every ingredient is roasted so we can store this poha laddu up to one week in room temperature in an airtight container. For kids you can consider this laddu to be a snack.

Aval laddu is rich in fiber and easily digestible to everyone. If we need dessert without a time it is best sweet. If guests suddenly come home this laddu is the best option.

  • Take a pan, add poha and fry in low flame for 2 minutes. Along with adding cardamom. After cool down, transfer to a blender and make a powder.
  • In a pan add ghee, raisin, and cashew nuts fry till turns to golden colour.
  • Add grated coconut and mix well for about 2 minutes. Add jaggery and let it melt down.
  • Add poha powder and mix well.
  • Add ghee to it. Apply ghee to hand and prepare a laddu.
