Pazham pori, also known as ethakka appam, is a fried food with ripened banana or plantain and maida flour. A common food item in South Indian cuisine, it is typically eaten as a breakfast or snack. It is named Balehannu bajji in Kannada and Vazhapalam bajji in Tamil.

 

Nendran Bananas are a variety of banana, much bigger in size than the regular Cavendish, flesh is firmer, silkier and sweeter.  Banana is soft and rich in starch meat wrapped with yellow color  cover.  It is very energetic and safe to eat fruit that can be eaten at any time. This banana is energy booster to our body.

In our local language Nendran bananan is called as Nendra Baale. It contains high fiber content, heart health, ease in digestion. Bananas is loaded with vitamins and minerals such as potassium, calcium etc so it’s a powerhouse of nutrients., . It regulates blood pressure. Due to the high iron content it helps to fight against anemia. Bananas are contribute to the proper functioning of the body and keeping you healthy.

For pazham pori is famous fritters from Kerala banana. In Kerala you can get every hotels, shops. If Kerala banana is not available you can try with other variety of banana. There is not much difference Taste. The pazam pori is unique taste among the bajjis or fritters.

The pazam pori is complete vegan recipe. It is very easy and quick snack for tea or coffee. Pazam pori is must served when it is hot otherwise it will become soft.

  • First peel the banana and cut into pieces .
  • Take one container, add maida, rice flour, sugar, turmeric, black sesame , salt and mix it. Add little water and mix it and prepare the fritter batter.
  • After preparing batter, add banana pieces to it.
  • Keep oil for heat. Take one by one piece and put into oil and fry until it become brownish
  • Take away from oil, put in a tissue. Now, bajji / fritter ready for eat. You can serve with hot tea or coffee.
