The moong dal halwa is traditional and authentic recipe. The moon dal is very good for health. It is famous halwa is north India. Moong dal halwa is a sweet which is prepared in winter season, weddings & also during the festival occasion.

 

For doing halwa simple rule must follow which is patience. Because once started to do halwa stirring is the major task till the completion of it. Don’t follow any shortcuts for making the halwa. If you do so, the taste of halwa will be ruined.

Making of the moong dal halwa is from simple ingredients. Started with preparation of the moong dal paste. I used sugar for sweetness, cardamom powder for aroma, desi ghee for taste. Finally I added roasted dry fruits to halwa.

Desi ghee is very good for our body. It gives nutrients, energy to body. Here, it increases the taste of the halwa too.  Dry fruits is completely optional according to your wish it can be add.

  • Soak the moon dal for 3 to 4 hours or overnight. Later grind into paste without adding water.
  • Take a pan, add ghee and roast raisins. Take off the raisins and add grinded moong dal paste cook to 5 minutes.
  • Add milk and cook to 5 minutes.
  • Later add sugar, cardamom powder to it and mix well.
  • Add ghee and stir well once halva leaves from pan, halva is done.
  • Tasty moong dal halwa is ready.

Notes

  1. I suggest non-stick pan because if you not stir continuously it will ruin the vessel.
  2. You can any dry fruits instead of raisins.
  3. If you add water while doing moong dal paste, it takes little more time to do halwa.
