Jowar roti is one of the very traditional recipes. Jowar roti is very healthy, vegan and gluten free, rich in fiber. It is a very nutritional recipe. Jowar is made with multigrain so it must be in our diet list and it keeps full for a longer time. We can also call this recipe as Jowar bhakri. In Karnataka we call it Jolada rotti.
When I was a kid, my father told me he ate jowar roti in North Karnataka. It tastes good and along with gun powder its taste is awesome. When he explained the recipe I was curious to eat this roti. But at that time in my region we were not doing jowar roti’s and no one was aware about how to prepare. When I moved to Bangalore I ate proper and tasted jowar roti. From that time a big fan of jowar roti. Then I learnt and now I can prepare proper jowar roti.
Jowar roti is very soft in texture. When the roti’s cool down it does not become a hard or chewy texture. We need to prepare the dough in hot water. After hot water, mix the flour and let it cool down. Then mix the dough for about ten minutes to prepare the soft roti. Once the dough is prepared take a small amount of dough and dust some flour, roll to a round flatbread.
Once you spread the Dough cook the roti on both sides on hot tawa. While cooking the roti gently press with clean wet cloth. It will give the fluffy roti. You have to be very careful when pressing the roti because roti and tawa both are hot. Serve the roti along with vegetable curry, gun powder or chatni.
Jowar flour is made with multigrain. It is one of the very healthy millet. It includes fiber, calcium, iron, zinc, and prosperity. Jowar is rich in antioxidants hence, it is diabetic friendly food, good for our health. Thank you guys for coming here and supporting me. Stay connected to the next interesting recipe.
