Chyawanprash is one of the best immunity boosters for kids. This is one of the Ayurvedic foods. For chyawanprash, gooseberry is one of the main ingredients. In India almost every kid eats chyawanprash.

I always prefer homemade food for myself and my kids. So I am always experimenting with the recipes because I love homemade food and it gives one extra joy to eat. For preparing the chyawanprash all ingredients are easily available in the kitchen. Trust me this is the best recipe and kids will love this.

In my childhood my parents gave me chyawanprash for immunity, brain development and many purposes. They are not prepared at home, they buy from the markets. When I was thinking about chyawanprash to give to my son, I wondered why we can’t do it at home. So I searched the recipes and found so many recipes and experimented and the outcome is this.

For the chyawanprash added more spices, which are easily available in our daily kitchen. The herbs or spices are very good for health. It gives a lot of energy and it reduces the chances of falling sick of a child. This is best for every child. The herbs do not have side effects on the kids. The honey helps to reduce the cough, cold. Jaggery has antioxidants. Dates are a natural sweetener. So I added honey, jaggery and dates as a sweetener which helps to improve our health. Ghee improves energy so this is best for the kids.

Once you prepared chyawanprash, store in glass jar. Use dry spoon while scooping. It stays good up to 4 months.

  • Take an amla or gooseberry and add to a pressure cooker, along with enough water and cook it.
  • Once it cools down, strain the water and remove all the seeds.
  • Transfer the cooked gooseberry to a mixer jar and grind it to a smooth paste.
  • Take a dry mixer jar add dry ginger, cinnamon, cumin, cardamom, black pepper, fennel seeds, cloves and bay leaf, basil leaves. Make a powder of herbs.
  • Take a jar, add seedless dates and paste it. Keep aside.
  • Heat the kadai with oil and ghee, add gooseberry paste and cook it until oil and ghee evaporates. Then add ground paste of dates and combine well and cook for 3 minutes.
  • Add crushed jaggery, mix well and cook for 5 minutes. All Jaggery melts and everything goes well and the mix becomes thick.
  • Add ground powder of herb mix and honey mix everything well. Finally add saffron, mix everything and turn off the flame.
  • Immunity booster chyawanprash ready to use.
