Waterleaf Gravy is prepared from water leaf. Other ingredients are added for nice texture for gravy. The water leaf is helps to maintain restore body to its natural form.

 

The water leaf plant has beauty, its combination of green and pink. This plant produces lovely small pinkish purple flower. This plant does have ability to spread. Waterleaf is called in local language is Nelabasale. It is one kind of Spinach, its biological name is Tallinum ruticose. It is widely grown in tropical regions as a leaf vegetable.

Waterleaf contains lots of water and nutrients such as minerals, vitamins, crude fiber, lipids and others which make them highly medicinal. The health benefits from consumption of this leaf is improves the blood cells, promotes healthy heart, eliminates infection and diseases, easily indigestion and weight loss. It can be eaten to treat this irregularity in the body system and it is also used for mild laxative which could restore the body to its normal form.

The water leaf benefits are not known to many people so this is not famous like spinach. This is one kind of spinach but it is not compared to our normal spinach.

The water leaf gravy is good combination with chapathi, roti, rice, dosa and so on. I always loved leaves curry with rice or simple chapathi. From water leaf we can prepare different curry in our kitchen using simple ingredients. This recipe is one of the simplest curry of water leaf.

Water leaf is easily grown plant. This have pinkish colour flower along with seeds. When I see this plant always remember good memories about water leaf. In my native they grow this leafy vegetable.

  • First cut the Waterleaf, onion, tomato and keep aside.
  • Gravy Paste: take one mixer jar. Add grated coconut, onion, tomato.
  • Take one pan, add oil, jeera / cumin, mustard, and curry leaves. Add onion, tomato and saut√© for a minute.
  • Later put water leaf & little water to it and boil it for 10 minutes.
