Sprouted horse gram rotti is one of the healthy and protein rich recipes. Horse gram is one of the lentils, which is used for many dishes. Horse gram is also called as Kollu, Huruli kaalu, ghat ki daal, kulith etc. horse gram contains lots of medicinal values and it is mainly used in Ayurveda. Many people are using this horse gram for curry, salads, sambar etc. but i’m sharing a unique recipe from horse gram. 

This recipe needs little time and patience. Because first we need to make the sprouts the horse gram like other lentils. Sprouted horse gram is very good for our health. In my weight loss journey i added this rotti because it is packed with nutrients, protein, taste and long time tummy filler.

Firstly we grind  sprouted horse gram with masala to add to the rotti. I added coriander leaves, curry leaves, ginger, coconut and jeera for flavor and good taste. In addition you can use coriander powder, garam masala or other masala or spices. Some people will feel horse gram is a gastric issue so add lots of ginger and hing (asafoetida) . Rice flour and suji or fine rava is added for making  the dough. Instead of this you can make with other flours. But taste wise makes you feel differ. 

I spread batter in banana leaves for good taste, if you are not available then spread in butter paper or soft muslin or cotton cloth. Ghee or oil will give extra nutrients to our body. Making holes will make it cook faster than usual. 

After making rotti serve with coconut chutney or sambar. I personally prefer  chutney for rotti. In addition you can add finely chopped onions with chutney.

  • Take a mixer jar and add sprouted horse gram, coriander leaves, ginger, curry leaves, jeera, grated coconut and grind it to a coarse powder.
  • In a mixing bowl add semolina, rice flour, salt, hing and ground paste and mix well.
  • Add water gradually and bring together.
  • Take a ball the size of dough and spread in a banana leaf.
  • Heat the tawa and place the spread dough in it.
  • After a few minutes remove the banana lead and apply some ghee or oil.
  • Cook both sides of the rotti on medium flame.
  • Serve on a plate and enjoy with chutney.
